People love to think cultural understanding and talent are the only thing that factors into success in the TV and comics industry. It's not.
The prerequisite is you genuinely have to work in obscurity, often if not always without pay or recognition for at LEAST 2 to 3 DECADES. And genuinely you have to be 34 years old, or older before anyone in L.A. even TALKS to you. No one in a truly powerful position ever got their during childhood or overnight...
