“The drawings should always have energy, vitality, emotion, and life, and it should
always reflect that to the reader. What I don't like about some of
the mainstream superhero art out there is that no matter how
impressive it looks, no matter how much effort, work, labor, and time
the artist put into it – It can have a ton of detail or be
beautifully and skillfully rendered – it can always still be kind
of dead on the page. There's no life to it. I really respond to art
where you can feel the hand of the artist in the story, you can know
what kind of person they are – that's what I always try to
achieve.”
