In Pop Storytelling Culture.
But actually, as a comic book and film theorist, I've been aware of these storytelling elements for a long time. All my favorite comics use these tropes: Akira, Moebius, Cerebus, Blame, Blade of the Immortal, Manga, indie comics.
Just slowing things down and letting the reader wander about the story.
TV Tropes refers to said concepts as "Decompressed Comics" and the "Aspect Montage"
They were not always called this, but these two names seem to be turning into a pair of internet buzz terms, so sure, I'll flow with it.
I recognize these storytelling tropes because you can in many ways find them in my own paneling design style.
